Saratov hotels

Saratov, the administrative centre of the Saratov region, was founded in 1590 as a fortress. It is a port on the Volga river surrounded with wonderful fertile lands and located on the trade routes crossing connecting the centre of Russia with Ural and the South. Thanks to its convenient geographical location Saratov became a large industrial city in the end of 19th century and was called the \"capital of Povolzhie\". The unique combination of European cultures had an influence on the city architecture. There are a lot of provincial modern, pseudo-gothic, Moscow barokko style private residences and administrative buildings of 19th - beginning of 20th centuries in the city centre. There are 5 theatres and 4 museums in Saratov. It occupies a territory of 378 square kilometres and has a population of 898600. Saratov extends over 50 kilometres along the right bank of the Volga river.
