Arkhangelsk hotels

Arkhangelsk is a sea and river port with a population of 420000. The city was founded in 1584 and is situated on the Severnaya (Northern) Dvina river near its mouth on the White Sea. Among the places of interest are the Solovetskye Islands which are included in the list of objects of world importance compiled by UNESCO (World\'s Cultural Heritage) as both an architectural (the Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery) and nature preserve. The timber industry, the pulp and paper industry, the shipbuilding are well developed. Among the major industrial enterprises of the city is the \"Severoalmaz\" diamond-working manufacture.
